You work here? 👊

I am fairly sure this happens to many folks... but I find it amusing and makes me curious.  People ask me if I work at the place I happen to be frequenting.

The most frequent place where people ask if I work there:

Which I think is kind of cool.  They are both places I feel comfortable hanging out at.

While in Costa Rica I decided to go zip-lining one day at Buena Vista Lodge and while I was standing in line chatting with one of our tour guides, someone joined the conversation and asked "Are you training?"... I actually had to pause.  I thought to myself: what the hell does that mean?

I asked them what they meant... and then they asked "Do you work here?  Are you going to be training to work with the Zipline group?"  Ahh.. now I get it.  Which, again, seems amusing.

Entitlement: online edition... (just a rant ;-)

This post is going to deviate a bit from my normal posts, but it's something I wanted to document and review... to see if I don't feel crazy about my views later. Somehow I have managed to end up on the surprising side of a conversation... Net Neutrality and Personal Privacy.  I'll gladly be educated on how my views are wrong.. but nobody seems to have valid arguments of why getting rid of Net Neutrality is so bad - shouting hyperbolic things such as: "They're destroying the Internet..." "they're going to make it impossible for the little guy..." Prove it... show some research... I'll be happy to concede that I am/was wrong and have one more thing to have unkempt angst over. Net Neutrality - nobody is entitled to Internet.  Similarly you're not entitled to a cell phone, home phone.. water in your home.  If you absolutely *need* Internet, there are places to get it (Libraries, Coffee Shops, Bars, Home Depot, hell.. even a car dealer...

Regarding the quote above:  A tough line to straddle, to be certain.  I think it's tough to be objectively critical of the world around us, while not being angry and want justice (or vengeance is likely more apt). I'm not sure I believe in an "Illuminati" or some secret organization that is controlling the masses.  But, I do believe in Plutocracy and Oligarchy and that we are being played.  Not always for "evil" however.  Example:  look at the lines for a newly released Apple product, or for Black Friday (which seems to have toned down).  The control of our desires and "needs" (I say needs because they are really "wants"... but we're convinced otherwise).
