I have discovered that it is not very pleasant to wake up from the primal calling of a bunch of howler monkeys.  JFC.  Even still... an experience I am glad to have been through.  I have been sleeping only 7 hours per day here... and still feel great all day.  Perhaps due to being so close to the equator? :-)

Last Goodbye, as a concept, is something I ponder occasionally.  As-in... there will be a last time that I hear Jimi Hendrix... a last time I drive a car... and ultimately... the last time I wake up.  But... I am practicing some top-level avoidance by not addressing what those songs both were really written about - the end of a Love.  The human brain is pretty amazing... and amazingly annoying at times.  I'm positively broken - and that's OK.

Which brings me to my next song... this song is my "I'm kicking ass and everything is going to be awesome" anthem

Pura Vida!

I wonder if it is possible to unlearn all the Western indoctrination I have been exposed to.  The idea of possession... and what commitment is "supposed" to look like.  Starting from the idea of the "Jealous God" - "you will worship no other".  Perhaps that is why I have never found true love.  I suppose there was a chance I might have found it by accident.. but it certainly seems more likely if I knew what it was I was searching for.  2 things come to mind when I consider what life lessons I have had to learn on my own - managing finances.. and how to love, or be in love.

Oh ya.. the real reason I was listening to Last Goodbye... today is my last day in Costa Rica (for this trip).  I assume there are a number of Central American countries that are as beautiful and accommodating as Costa Rica, but this place really struck a nerve and I want to get to know this place better.  Conservation is a huge factor in how Costa Rica is managed.  And while there is development occurring, it seems like it is out of basic necessity and not unchecked profit or exploitation.

Entitlement: online edition... (just a rant ;-)

This post is going to deviate a bit from my normal posts, but it's something I wanted to document and review... to see if I don't feel crazy about my views later. Somehow I have managed to end up on the surprising side of a conversation... Net Neutrality and Personal Privacy.  I'll gladly be educated on how my views are wrong.. but nobody seems to have valid arguments of why getting rid of Net Neutrality is so bad - shouting hyperbolic things such as: "They're destroying the Internet..." "they're going to make it impossible for the little guy..." Prove it... show some research... I'll be happy to concede that I am/was wrong and have one more thing to have unkempt angst over. Net Neutrality - nobody is entitled to Internet.  Similarly you're not entitled to a cell phone, home phone.. water in your home.  If you absolutely *need* Internet, there are places to get it (Libraries, Coffee Shops, Bars, Home Depot, hell.. even a car dealer...

Regarding the quote above:  A tough line to straddle, to be certain.  I think it's tough to be objectively critical of the world around us, while not being angry and want justice (or vengeance is likely more apt). I'm not sure I believe in an "Illuminati" or some secret organization that is controlling the masses.  But, I do believe in Plutocracy and Oligarchy and that we are being played.  Not always for "evil" however.  Example:  look at the lines for a newly released Apple product, or for Black Friday (which seems to have toned down).  The control of our desires and "needs" (I say needs because they are really "wants"... but we're convinced otherwise).
